Auto-cratic!

Flail your arms,
scream and shout,
ask the tripeds in Bangalore
take a roundabout...

Under their breaths,
mutter they will,
and sputter away...
almost as though
your curses aspill...

Deign they might,
and turn around,
but will they ferry you
I certainly doubt...

Not by the meter
or twice its score,
Not when its raining,
or even the lane next door!

Not when there's traffic,
or when there's more than a bend,
or when a patient
is dire need of 'tend'

Scurry they might,
hurry they will,
Only if you are willing to
settle their hefty bill

So if you're in Bangalore...
Hop onto the bus,
Walk that extra mile,
or cycle if you must...

Because when in Bangalore
And mind you, it's true,
Getting an auto at a price that is fair,
Is if not impossible rare for sure...

(P.S.: this lovely sketch represents very well the lackadaisical auto driver in the city who sits about, but charges off his head. credit to the anon sketcher whose lovely piece was floating about on Google.)

Ha ha h aha!!! Makes me almost want to be a rickshaw man... Such awesome lazy life. You go where you want, when you want and a price you decide!! What could be better?

I wish they would spruce up the bus service here.. Those rick-rogues will soon shave Bangaloreans clean..
